A symbol of unity and wholeness, the mandala (or circle) has a long history in art and religion ranging from universal depictions in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition to the target paintings of Kenneth Noland and Jasper Johns. These wild mandala images are meditations on individual bird species present in Southwest Florida, as well as explorations of color, geometry and iconography.
